I Finally Found Someone

Nette asked me if i saw the movie, The Mirror Has Two Faces, of Barbra Streisand and Jeff Bridges. When she got my affirmative response, we started recalling the scenes followed by throwing of opinions. We just had a movie review right there. Hehe. Where can i find a copy, maybe sa “debede store ni ate muslima, hihi“ Bad daw yun… I’m guilty, snif.

Anyway, the synopsis right here was copied and pasted from wikipedia (wikipedia is acknowledged)…

Rose Morgan (Streisand), a shy, plain, middle-aged English Literature Professor at Columbia University, shares a home with her vain, overbearing mother Hannah (Bacall). When her attractive sister Claire (Rogers) starts preparations for her wedding to Alex (Brosnan), Rose begins to feel her loveless life is empty.

Gregory Larkin (Bridges), a Columbia Mathematics teacher who feels sex complicates matters between men and women, is looking for a relationship based on the intellectual rather than the physical. When he overhears Rose’s lecture about chaste love in literature, he becomes intrigued and asks her out, and is impressed by her wit and knowledge. He proposes marriage, with the condition it will be strictly platonic. The prospect of spending the rest of her life as a lonely spinster living with her mother seems far worse than a marriage without sex, so Rose accepts.

Rose’s attraction to Gregory grows, and one night she attempts to seduce him, much to his annoyance. When he departs on a lengthy lecture tour, Rose embarks on a crash course in self improvement. She diets, exercises, changes her hairstyle, learns to use makeup, and outfits herself in an updated wardrobe, and when her husband returns, he finds a very different woman waiting for him, and his perception of her begins to alter dramatically.

All the while Rose realizes that everyone, including herself, is behaving differently now towards her improved-self, though not always to her liking. Gregory and Rose finally face that their mutual love has not been hindered by Rose’s appearance, but by Gregory’s unusual theories on marriage and sex, and finally recognize their deep affection.

I would also like to share the lyrics of the song:

KUTSARA'T TINIDOR

I wonder why kutsara is identified as a woman, and tinidor as a man. And like most of us (Filipinos) know about our silly belief, that when someone accidentally dropped a spoon, be ready for a female visitor, and for the fork, you know the story, my curiosity with these utensils did not end there. My late grandmother who was a very good cook and a kitchen bum wasn’t much of a believer in this myth though hehe.

Last Friday, as we were having food and beverage binge at Beng’s house, and as I sang wholeheartedly to magic sing’s “For All We Know,” I overheard them (Nance, Beng, Ate Helen and Jhanzy) all agreed upon saying that boys are really smarter than girls. I definitely, absolutely, and “ik” ly disagree with that, though I kept my silence. For me, it was not a question of whoever is the best. My opinion always stands for the “it depends” category. Or maybe as a woman, my ego was hurt. Hehehe. I am a feminist. For the postulations I learned in my MA subject (Discourse), I really may have embraced that of feminism.

One inane “Mhey” point, do we often say “kutsara’t tinidor” or “tinidor at kutsara”?

Of course we say the former “kutsara’t tinidor” more often because it is easier in a sense that a letter (“a” from the article “at”) was omitted. So it is indeed shorter. Haha.
And because kutsara is identified as a woman, (kutsara is mentioned first in “kutsara’t tinidor” di ba?) therefore a woman stands ahead of man. Another Haha.

I was only kidding, feministically.

Of course, it is still depends. How one is brought up, values, educational attainment, etcetera yadah yadah blah blah, for the whole package of a person, these are significant. It is not based on the gender that someone is best in his or her field. The gender issue shouldn’t be a valid point.

So what now? Wala lang. Tara let’s eat like Pinoys do. Without spoon and fork. (Even in English language, we are used to saying spoon and fork, not fork and spoon) Ehehehehe my theory. Don’t take this seriously.

Kainan na!!... :P

This time its for u

For the years that went away, im glad that i have found you again. The distance and time failed to fade your presence from my memory…

And although you are there, i can sense your longing from afar… I can always be near in thoughts and be your friend, as I was then and still…

Hanging on our faiths, i know we can get by, as God not only listens but also hears every sigh, every pain, every bruise…

Reach out to Him, He will never fail you. Run to Him, He has open arms, strong arms enough to carry our burdens…

In time we will realize, we were blessed for the pain, as we are made like Him, as prayers made us stronger and wiser, and ready to face every tomorrow.

This is for u. Your song. Take care always.

Consuming Fire

There must be more than this,
O breath of God come breathe within,
There must be more than this,
Spirit of God we wait for You.
Fill us anew we pray,
Fill us anew we pray.

(Chorus)Consuming fire fan into flame,
A passion for Your Name,
Spirit of God fall in this place,
Lord have Your way,
Lord have Your way with us,

Come like a rushing wind,
Clothe us with power from on high,
Now set the captives free,
Leave us abandoned to Your praise.
Lord let Your glory fall,
Lord let Your glory fall.
Stir it up in our hearts Lord,
Stir it up in our hearts Lord,
Stir it up in our hearts Lord,
A passion for Your Name.
